The Baby Blues

Pearl and Lilly were strapped for cash and could barely afford to feed themselves. Feeling desperate and out of sorts from all the hormones coursing through her, Pearl decided to hit up the slot machine that had once won her a lot of money.

However today it wasn't being so kind.

Finally it spit out about 300 simoleons. It wasn't a lot, but it helped.

Pearl wandered around town before coming across the wishing well.

Lilly had gotten her wish fulfilled so maybe she could too. At first she thought to wish for a man to come help take care of her but she decided that wishing for wealth would be better.

Pearl was sadly disappointed when nothing happened.

Pearl decided to try again and wished extra, extra hard this time.

This time around, fairies came out of the well. But they pelted Pearl with the coins she had wished with and told her she wouldn't have to wish for wealth if she stopped throwing coins in wells.

"Oww! Stupid fairies, that hurt!"

Pearl had some luck though as the science facility called her with an opportunity to earn some cash by earning a logic point.

So when Lilly came home from work, Pearl played chess with her. "I got a promotion today, check out the awesome lab coat. It came with a bonus too so we should be able to at least afford a crib."

"That's nice... But where should we put it?" Pearl moved one of her pieces. "Uhh... Well we have some room in the living room. I guess that's as good as it's going to get for now."

"Yeah I suppose you're right. We don't have enough money to add another room yet."

Thus after Pearl turned in her opportunity, she bought a crib and had it set up between the television and her desk. "You don't think the baby will get some sort of radiation from that, do you?" Pearl looked back at Lilly who waved her hand. "Nah, it'll be fine."

Later that night Pearl caught Lilly in the hallway and began to cry. "Lilly! I don't know what do to...! We're nearly broke and Jaycen wont answer me... The hormones are driving me crazy! Do you know what I did!? I tried to win money from the casino with the little bit we had!"

Lilly gave her a confident smile. "I know I was hard on you... And I'm sorry. This must be really difficult. But I'm here to help, and I promise I will."

Lilly leaned down and placed a hand on Pearl's stomach. "Times will be tough but we'll get through it and you'll be stronger because of it."

Pearl pulled her in to a hug. "Oh Lilly... Sometimes you can be so rotten but you always know what to say to make me feel better."

Shortly after their talk, Pearl saw a cute cat outside with a stubby little tail. But before she could get to know it better, the cat ran off.

It was for the best because not long after Pearl tried to go to bed, she went in to labor. "Lilly! Get the car!"

"Everyone out of the way! My sister's having a baby!"

Pearl gave birth to a bouncing baby boy named Alexander. His traits were Virtuoso and Excitable. However Pearl wasn't very excited. While she knew that this was her baby and she should care for him and love him, she didn't have much feeling towards him.

Jaycen had came and escorted them home. The only reason he had shown up was due to some threatening calls made by Lilly.

Lilly was very tired since she was about to go to bed when Pearl went to labor. So her going to bed gave Pearl and Jaycen some time alone. "I'm sorry Pearl, but I'm not in to relationships. I suppose if you really wanted me to, I could take the kid." Pearl scowled as she put Alexander down. "No, Jaycen. I birthed him and you did nothing, not even help pay for bills, so there is no way you're taking him."

Pearl turned to face him. "Jaycen, not only did you break my heart but you lied to me and hurt me very badly. You ignored my phone calls and never once expressed some sort of sorrow or give an apology." He shrugged. "What can I say... I was in it for a good time, that's all."

"How can you say that right to my face... Jaycen, I want you out. I might, MIGHT invite you to Alexander's birthday parties but unless I call to have you come over, I don't want you around this house, around me, or around MY baby."

Jaycen turned around to leave. "Too bad you couldn't at least stick around for some more fun. You're more uptight than I thought." Pearl shouted at him. "Get out!" With that he left, leaving Pearl standing there with angry tears on her face and sorrow in her heart.
